U glass is produced through calendaring and forming, named for its distinctive "U" shape in cross-section. It boasts excellent light transmittance, heat insulation, and high mechanical strength. Widely used in urban and rural architecture, it offers unique decorative effects and reduces the need for light metal profiles compared to standard glass.
Available in normal clear, tinted blue, tinted green, low iron, or ultra-clear finishes. Customized sizes and patterns are available to meet specific project needs.
The tempering process for channel glass (up to 20' long) utilizes custom three-dimensional tempering ovens. This heat treatment strengthens the glass, raising compression to 10,000 psi or greater.
Tempered U channel glass is 3 to 4 times stronger than annealed glass. It is characterized by its safety break pattern—small, harmless fragments known as "dicing"—which significantly reduces the risk of injury.
