U glass is produced through calendaring and forming, named for its distinctive "U" shape in cross-section. It offers excellent light transmittance, superior heat insulation, and high mechanical strength. Advanced Tempering Technology
The tempering process for channel glass (up to 20' long) utilizes custom three-dimensional tempering ovens. Tempered U channel glass is annealed glass that undergoes secondary heat treatment to raise compression to 10,000 psi or greater.
Tempered U glass is 3-4 times stronger than annealed glass and breaks into small, harmless fragments (dicing), significantly reducing the risk of injury.
